“I’ve tried every budgeting app. This is the first one I still open after a month, because logging is just talking.”
“The calendar heat map made me realise weekends were wrecking my budget. Gorgeous and useful.”
“Credit limit warnings saved me from going over twice already. And it looks unreal in dark mode.”
No. Purse never asks for bank logins. You record what you spend by voice or by hand, so you stay in full control of what’s stored. Pro users can optionally turn on bank SMS import, on iPhone and Android: new bank transaction messages are redacted on your phone and added automatically, with Undo. It’s off until you switch it on.
iPhone doesn’t let any app read your messages, and Purse doesn’t try to. Instead, you create an automation in Apple’s Shortcuts app that hands your bank’s texts to Purse as they arrive. Purse walks you through it step by step: it takes about five minutes, once, and needs iOS 17 or later. Only the messages your automation picks reach Purse, and you can switch it off anytime.
Never automatically. The AI only drafts an entry. You review it in a form and tap Save. If it’s missing an amount, it asks you to fill it in. The one exception is bank SMS import, which you turn on yourself: each imported entry comes with an Undo notification, and you can edit or delete it anytime.

Yes. Pick your main currency and Purse totals in it. Entries in other currencies are kept and shown, never silently converted.
